Nutrition Counseling for Women in Maryland, DC & Virginia

You've seen the doctors. You've tried the diets. You still don't feel like yourself. I'm Julie Wendt, a licensed clinical nutritionist, and I help women figure out what's actually going on and build a plan to fix it.

You Shouldn't Have to Feel This Way

Does any of this sound familiar?

Exhausted and foggy

Tired no matter how much you sleep. Struggling to think clearly or show up fully.

Gut issues that won't quit

Bloating, pain, unpredictable digestion that disrupts your day and your confidence.

Dismissed and unheard

Your labs are "normal." Your doctor says it's stress. But you know something is wrong.

You've started to wonder if it's all in your head. It isn't.

Bloating, fatigue, brain fog, GI pain, anxiety, unexplained weight changes, and hormonal imbalances are real symptoms with real root causes. You deserve more than a prescription to manage symptoms. You deserve answers.

A Clinical Approach to Nutrition

This Is Not a Generic Nutrition Plan

Most nutrition advice is built for the average person. My approach is built for you.

As a Certified Nutrition Specialist and Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist, I use advanced functional testing to understand exactly what is happening in your body before I make a single recommendation. This is not guesswork. It is clinically guided, evidence-based nutrition care that goes far deeper than anything you will find in a standard doctor's visit or a generic wellness program.

The gut-brain connection sits at the center of how I work. Your digestive system contains over 500 million neurons and communicates directly with your brain, influencing your mood, immune function, energy, and cognitive clarity. Research shows that when gut symptoms improve, anxiety and depression scores drop by as much as 40%. Treating the root cause changes everything.

I hold a Master of Science in nutrition and also work within a psychiatry practice, which gives me a perspective on the relationship between mental health and nutrition that most nutritionists simply do not have. When you work with me, you are getting clinical training, functional medicine expertise, and someone who genuinely listens.

Hi, I'm Julie

Julie Wendt, MS, CNS, LDN

Licensed Nutritionist | Functional Medicine Practitioner

I’m a functional nutritionist specializing in identifying the root causes of brain fog, anxiety, digestive issues, and fatigue through advanced lab testing. My approach is both professional and personal—shaped by my own journey navigating these symptoms while raising three young children and pursuing advanced nutrition training.

I am a licensed clinical nutritionist serving women virtually across Maryland, Washington DC, and Virginia. I hold a Master of Science in nutrition, am a Board-Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS), and am licensed as a Dietitian Nutritionist in Maryland (LDN) and as a Licensed Nutritionist (LN) in Washington DC. I also work within a psychiatry practice, giving me a uniquely integrated perspective on the connection between mental health and nutrition.

I didn’t start here as a practitioner—I started here as a mom looking for answers.

When my newborn struggled with colic, I did what most parents do: I asked for help. But the answers I received didn’t explain why it was happening—or how to truly help him feel better.

That experience led me down a path I never expected—one rooted in understanding the gut, nutrition, and the deeper drivers behind symptoms that are so often dismissed.

Over time, that journey became personal in a different way.

While raising three young children and working toward my Master’s in Clinical Nutrition, I found myself exhausted, wired but unable to sleep, and running on empty. Despite everything I was learning, I was experiencing the very symptoms I now help others navigate—brain fog, anxiety, digestive issues, and deep fatigue.

I needed a different approach. One that didn’t just manage symptoms, but uncovered what was actually driving them.

That’s when I began applying the same functional, lab-based approach I now use with my clients—looking deeper, connecting the dots, and rebuilding from the inside out.

It changed everything.

Today, I help individuals who feel stuck, overlooked, or frustrated finally understand what’s happening in their bodies. Using advanced lab testing and a personalized nutrition approach, we identify the root causes behind symptoms like brain fog, anxiety, bloating, and fatigue—so you can move forward with clarity and confidence.

This work is deeply personal to me. I’ve lived it. And it’s an honor to walk alongside others as they find their way back to feeling like themselves again.

This is my most comprehensive program, designed for women dealing with persistent gut symptoms, fatigue, anxiety, brain fog, or hormonal imbalance who are ready to get to the root of what is going on rather than manage symptoms indefinitely.

3-Month Condensed Program

For women who want structured clinical support with a defined timeline who are starting from a sound foundation.

This condensed program is ideal for women who are already optimized with their foundational habits- diet, sleep, movement, stress support- and need a personalized, step-by-step approach to uncover and correct the root causes behind their lingering symptoms. If you feel like you’re ‘doing everything right and not seeing results’, this is for you!  Through advanced assessment, targeted testing, and ongoing 1:1 guidance, you’ll receive a clear, customized care plan designed for your body.

    • A series of appointments structured to optimize your progress:

      • Initial Assessment (60 minutes): During your initial session, Julie will assess your health history, health goals, and current lifestyle factors.

      • Report of Findings (60 minutes): Julie will analyze your lab results in the context of your health goals to create your personalized treatment map.

★★★★★

“Julie is an amazing holistic nutritionist. She has great knowledge and expertise. But the part that makes her excel in this role is her sensitivity to a person’s emotional status and challenges. She has just the right amount of honoring my personal preferences, needs, and at times skepticism - with her gentle push, presence, and belief in me that says “you can do it”! I highly recommend Julie - her skill and presence is what you need if you’re looking for help with your health related to food and behaviors.”

“Julie has helped me learn about and improve my nutrition and my health for years. I highly recommend her. Julie is very smart, driven and passionate about healthy living. She is an amazing resource. It’s so important to have her help, especially as you get older. If you want to feel better and learn how to do that, definitely work with Julie. She helps me more than my primary doctor. I trust her fully as I know she researches everything and has a deep understanding about how our bodies work. I really enjoy working with her and find the knowledge I gain really interesting too!”

“I've been working with Julie for almost a year and she's been really helpful. I especially love that she listens. She makes recommendations based on my concerns and preferences and what will work for me, not just her own agenda. She's also great at interpreting/making sense of a lot of complicated data from my labs and identifying priorities and a strategy. She sends very clear, helpful notes after our sessions that summarize her recommendations. She's also very responsive to emails/questions between our sessions. She's great!”
